A New Year of LISTEN – Close-up Concerts with Dallas Originals
LISTEN – Close-up Concerts with Dallas Originals is BACK! Born during the early days of the pandemic when live performances weren’t an option, the AT&T Performing Arts Center’s artist-focused LISTEN series has featured an incredibly talented array of artists representing diverse backgrounds and musical styles.
LISTEN is recorded inside the Center’s small sound studio tucked away on the 5th floor of the Wyly Theatre. The compact space has the best acoustics for recording and just enough room for the artist and a videographer to squeeze in for the shots. The result is an intimate, “Close-up” performance that emphasizes each performers’ unique talents. It feels as if you’re in the room with them.
Always be on the look-out on @ATTPAC social channels for new LISTEN videos to drop. Here are two of our favorite videos and LISTEN success stories!
DAMOYEE , a former student at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and an now an award-winning multi-hyphenate music artist (composer, musician, singer, songwriter, producer, arranger and recording artist), has a long history with the Center. If you’ve ever attended a performance in the Winspear Opera House you’ve heard her original composition that accompanies the raising of the Moody Chandelier! DAMOYEE was also the first artist featured in LISTEN back in 2020 and just graced our studio again by premiering her latest single “Phobia”.
“I am honored that AT&T Performing Arts Center continues to support me as my career grows and changes since composing the piece for the Moody Chandelier,” said DAMOYEE about her experience with the Center. “The first ‘LISTEN’ video I did led to several opportunities, such as finding my manager and connecting with local creatives. It was wonderful to be asked back, premiere an upcoming song, and take part in an important program that uplifts many local artists.” Learn more about DAMOYEE here >>
Texas-bred singer songwriter Joshua Ray Walker’s LISTEN – Close-up Concert has been viewed over 17 thousand times on YouTube! His haunting rendition of his original song, “Voices” still gives us chills. Since recording with us in January of 2021 Joshua has released a full album, toured the U.S., and appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
“I’m grateful that AT&T PAC gave me, and other local musicians a platform during the lockdown,” Joshua said about his mid-pandemic. “Their continued support of the North Texas music scene is very appreciated!” Learn more about Joshua Ray Walker here >>
