TITAS/Dance Unbound Presents
SOCIAL TANGO
Argentina
Social Tango Project is a dance company founded in 2012 by Ramón de Oliveira César and Agustina Videla. Its first production, Social Tango, blends dance, live music, and cinematic projections to tell the story of women who discover tango and choose to embark on the journey of learning to dance—a celebration of the power of human connection.
Tango is enjoying a surge of popularity around the world. As Pamela Tatge of Jacob’s Pillow puts it, “[Social Tango] is a dazzling performance that showcases … talented Argentinian artists and local tango dancers as well.” And that’s exactly what makes this event so special.
With ten dancers, five musicians, and the meaningful participation of local tango communities in every city they visit, this is far more than a typical night at the theater. It’s an experience you can step into as much, or as little, as you like. Founded in 2012 by Ramón de Oliveira César and Agustina Videla, Social Tango celebrates not just the beauty and complexity of tango, but the heart and spirit behind it.
It’s a joyful evening filled with captivating dancing and vibrant music. And just when you think the night is over, something magical happens: the dancers invite the audience up on stage for an impromptu tango lesson. “Special” hardly does it justice. Come be part of the tango experience, join the fun, be in the room and and experience a night at the theater unlike any other.
